Description
Detail of woman’s dress in cream corded silk chine printed with abstract flowers in red, blue, brown and yellow. Rectangular neckline with red silk satin facing, bodice fastening centre front with red cord lacing over cream machine lace, elbow-length sleeves. Skirt, full-length, chine overskirt open at centre front, pleated over hips, fullness centre back to go over bustle extending into train. Petticoat-style underskirt with rows of cream machine lace applied slightly diagonally. Labelled ‘R. Simpson and Sons Costumiers Jamaica St. Corner Glasgow’. Worn by Annie, wife of Robert Kirk Simpson.
